There Is Something About Wine and Cheese

The magic combination of a fine wine and cheese is quite special to us. Being loyal local business patrons we love pairing our gouda cheese with local wines. Some of the finest wines in the country or even the world come from a special area in upstate New York – the Finger Lakes. There are over 100 wineries and vineyards within the finger lakes area surrounding Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka, Conesus and Hemlock lakes. We are excited to have found so many amazing pairings from local wineries; so excited we will start featuring a new local wine and gouda pairing each week to aid you in discovering your favorite new york wine and gouda!

The inaugural pairing will be Salmon Run’s Meritage and our Baby Gouda Cheese!

This is a delightful wine produced at Dr. Konstantin Frank Wines in Hammondsport,NY. Salmon Run Meritage is an amazing blend of red Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. All of which are age-worthy red wines, barrel aged in French oak barrels for a year. Meritage pairs well with cow milk cheese, so naturally our gouda made from our very own farms milk is the perfect combination. The Salmon Run Meritage being a bordeaux style wine has a great depth of flavor pairing extremely well with baby gouda. For more information on Dr Frank’s Salmon Run Meritage, follow the links below. Until next time enjoy!
