Summer is getting closer and before you know it, July 4th weekend will be coming right at you and everyone knows what that means, BBQ time! When you are pulling out your grill you usually aren’t thinking about how you can use your smoked gouda on it. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t! We decided to find a tasty meal to share with you all so your smoked gouda doesn’t get left in cold during these summer months. We found a delicious look pork recipe that is both quick and exceptionally easy. Does it get any more mouth watering than pork chops stuffed with smoked gouda and bacon?
- 2 ounces smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 (2 1/4 inch thick) center-cut, bone-in pork chops
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Now that you have prepared the meal cooking it is even easier. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat. In a small bowl, combine the smoked gouda cheese, bacon, parsley, and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Next is the key step, carefully cut a pocket into the pork, going all the way to the bone, but leaving the sides intact.
Stuff your smoked gouda cheese mixture into the pocket you just cut, be careful when filling the pork chops with your smoked gouda mixture, do not stuff it too full because you don’t want the meat to finish cooking before the smoked gouda cheese has had a chance to melt. Next, close with a wooden toothpick. From there you will want to brush meat with oil, and season with salt and more black pepper.
The final step is the easiest! Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill over medium heat for 5 to 8 minutes on each side, or until pork is done. Quick and easy! So quick you need to be careful that you don’t overcook it!
So don’t let your smoked gouda urges go to waste this summer as you BBQ. There are so many good recipes that incorporate our smoked gouda cheese. If you have any recipes of your own please feel free to share them, we would love to give them a try!
