This past March marked the 22nd year Jake and his family have resided in New York. The decision to move from Pennsylvania originated from the family church. Looking at many different areas for the perfect 200-acre farm, their final decision landed them in Deansboro, New York. Deansboro is a great location for a dairy farm because of the easy access to feed mills and cattle dealers. The important difference from upstate New York from Pennsylvania was the climate change; Upstate New York’s climate is cooler and perfect for the cows and their dairy production. Purchasing Two Farms with intentions of passing them down to their sons, they now have an almost entirely self-sufficient farm. Jake would like to eventually hand over the dairy farm to his sons and to continue with the Gouda with his wife Sylvia.
